Brice de Warlincourt
Brice de Warlincourt is a Genevan artist with an atypical career. Passionate about origami since childhood thanks to an encounter with Masahiro Chatani Senseï, he grew up in a family and cultural context open to the world. After studying ethnology and devoting years to lutherie, he developed a very personal artistic style, the result of combining origami and lutherie techniques.
Brice explores his talent through the creation of singular paintings, using folded and painted paper, although his approach is somewhat distanced from traditional origami. His works are composed of bas-reliefs, where the motifs are finely modified by paint, adding a unique artistic dimension. In his practice, Brice often starts several sheets of paper simultaneously, seeking variants or exploring diverse artistic concepts such as shapes and colors.
After folding the paper, he has a choice of various ink and paint techniques to color the sheet, offering a rich and varied palette. The artist usually paints both sides of the sheet, allowing the color to gently penetrate the paper and thus creating captivating effects of transparency. The reliefs and volumes then illuminate his paintings, adding a tactile and visual dimension to his remarkable work.
