LUNDIS BLEUS - Pétales
Description
The model Ref.1120-CL "Pétales" features a dial handcrafted using the ancestral method of kiln-fired cloisonné enameling.
This decorative art, whose origin and antiquity remain mysterious, involves creating a pattern using very thin gold threads, sometimes as fine as a strand of hair, in the form of partitions or "cloisons".
These partitions are then deposited on the surface of the dial, which itself is covered with an extremely thin gold leaf (approximately 1/1000 of a millimeter). Using a miniature brush, powdered polychrome enamels are delicately placed within the partitions.
Enamel, a type of glass, has the property of adhering to certain metals under the influence of heat.
Thus, when the partitions are filled with enamel powders, the dial undergoes the fire test at over 800°C to allow the glass and the metal to fuse. After cooling, a thin layer of vitrified enamels becomes visible. However, the filling and firing process must be repeated as many times as necessary to give thickness, intensity, and depth to the colors.
Due to its complexity and the extensive manual work required for each dial, the true art of kiln-fired cloisonné enameling is rare in watchmaking. This makes it highly regarded in the hearts of connoisseurs and enlightened collectors.
Remarks:
Display model not for sale. Can be recreated on request, also with other colors. Cloisonné enameling lends itself extremely well to the creation of unique pieces. Other custom leathers possible upon request.
