LUNDIS BLEUS - World Map

Réf.1120-MA "World Map"

Description

The model Ref.1120-MA "World Map" features a central medallion representing a map of the world in kiln-fired cloisonné enamel.

This decorative art, whose origin and antiquity remain mysterious, consists of creating a motif using very fine gold wires, sometimes as thin as a hair, in the form of partitions.

These partitions are then laid on the surface of the dial, itself covered with an extremely thin gold leaf (about 1/1000 of a millimeter). Using a miniature brush, powdered polychrome enamels are delicately placed in the partitions.

Enamel, a type of glass, has the property of adhering to certain metals under the influence of heat.

Thus, when the partitions are filled with enamel powders, the dial undergoes the fire test at over 800°C to allow the glass and metal to fuse. After cooling, a fine layer of vitrified enamel is visible. However, the filling and baking process must be repeated as many times as necessary to give thickness, intensity, and depth to the colors.

Due to its complexity and the long manual work represented by each dial, the true art of kiln-fired cloisonné enameling is rare in watchmaking. This gives it a special place in the hearts of aesthetes and enlightened collectors.

Remarks:

Can be reproduced on request. Specific maps available on request. Cloisonné enameling is extremely suitable for creating personalized or unique pieces.
